The ironworkers carefully guide the
railing into place from the man lift
The railing is aligned with the 
pre-drilled and tapped holes,
caulked and bolted into place 
  While railing is being installed above, an electrician gets ready to pull conduit
down the weight pocket
The conduit which will supply the light runs from the cellar to the upper landing within the weight pocket A reporter from TV 9&10 interviews Emmet County Commissioner Tamlyn as preparations are made to lift the lantern The lantern is hooked to the crane and begins its journey up to the gallery 
The lantern arcs its way to the ironworkers waiting to guide it over the railing Just a few more inches.... The lantern is in place, and ready for caulking and to be bolted securely in place.
The ironworkers attach the heavy lantern chimney to the crane hook.. The crane eases the chimney up to
the top of the lantern where it is
bolted into place
The vent ball is carefully lowered
atop the installed chimney
With the installation of the lightning
rod atop the vent ball, installation
of the lantern is complete.
While work on the lantern was
underway, trees were being cleared
in front of the lighthouse... 
... opening-up a view of the lighthouse which has not been seen in
almost 100 years
