Every year, the Federal Department responsible for the nation's aids to navigation at that time published a complete listing of all aids to navigation. Commonly known as "Light Lists," these books contained considerable descriptive information about the structures, their location, appearance, height and light, sound signal characteristics and dates of establishment refitting and rebuilding. As such, they are extremely useful in tracking changes over time. GLLKA is embarking on an initiative to digitize these volumes and make them available for online research.
